According to the information in the magazine, Hazel was born a Mormon in Utah and traveled with her family to Europe where she and her sisters honed their musical abilities. Hazel played the violin. However, when she broke her arm, she turned her talent to singing on the stage. Hazel's early stage career was in England, but she began starring in plays in the United States around the time of this portrait. |
