Thanks to the manager of the Gerst Haus in Evansville, IN, I have been able to post this advertisement for The Pride of the South playing at the Franklin in June of 1913. This ad is displayed in the front left storefront window of the Gerst Haus on Franklin Street. The picture below is a detail from this ad. The reflection in the picture is from a plastic covering that I was reluctant to remove without permission. The Internet Movie Data Base indicates the release date of The Pride of the South as March 1913. According to the IMDb, the movie, starring Francis Ford, is about the Civil War exploits of John Singleton Mosby. It looks like this June 1913 performance is an anniversary performance. If so, then the dates do not coincide with what is on the IMDb. |
